Rodent behavior can vary dramatically from one environment to urban area to another. Thus, it is somewhat difficult to describe the “typical” behavior of mice and rats. As a result, control programs must be flexible and adapt to each situation. The integrated pest management (IPM) approach is especially important for managing rodents, and involves integrating rodent inspections, sanitation, rodent-proofing, population reduction (trapping & rodenticide programs), and follow-up.
